IVF and the "right" to be a parent: the child as an expensive lifestyle accessory | LifeSiteNews.com

This is very apt. I have heard even Catholics casually mention IVF in conversations with me, seemingly unaware there is anything wrong with it. Often, they are not really aware of the steps involved in IVF. Their focus is only on the goal: having a child, as if a couple's desire for a child could justify any means undertaken toward that end.

IVF, however, offends against the dignity of the children conceived through it and often entails selective abortion as well. What began as a good desire, by becoming absolutized as a quasi "right" to have a child, ends up resulting in a series of actions that actually degrade children.
